Black Sheep Best Bitter was the first ever beverage brewed at the Black Sheep brewery in Masham, Yorkshire. It’s their best seller, and one of the best-selling session beers in the country. Brewed using the finest Maris Otter malted barley, Black Sheep Best Bitter provides an aroma of hops and malt, with a slightly peppery flavour and long, bitter finish.
This is a personal favourite of our bartender, Angus Egdell-Page, who describes it as “A heavy mild with a classic ale flavour. A favourite of the old timers. Thick, textured with a subtle aftertaste. A true taste of the Pennines in a glass.”
Black Sheep Best Bitter is a perfect match for red meat, it’s peppery undertones complimenting beef or lamb especially. You could try adding it to a stew or pie to add depth of flavour, or mixing it into gravy to create a wonderful accompaniment for any meaty dish.
