Every September, families from all over the area come to Dolphinholme for LiveWyre Music Festival to raise money for Dolphinholme School. This year’s festival was bigger and better than ever, and you’d never believe that it was organised by the school’s PTFA!
If you’re a pub-quiz regular at The Fleece Inn, you’ve probably seen (or heard!) the school’s PTFA as they join us every week without fail. Not what you’d expect from a PTFA, the major players are mostly dads at the school with a penchant for great ale and wine (two things we’ll never let them down on!)
Raising over £5000 for the school this year, the festival featured music from One Sided Horse, The White Lakes, Balkanics and many other local names. For the past few years, the community has rallied around the school for LiveWyre; a one-day magical family festival based in Dolphnholme’s very own “Dingly Dell”.
Corless Brewing Co brewed up a very special “LiveWyre Ale”, and the Beach Bar on the day came well stocked with the now infamous “LiveWyre Cocktail”, along with a number of other local ales from The Fleece Inn. With homemade cakes and flavoured gins from Dolphinholme WI, face painting, fairy doors and festival glitter, craft tents, a bouncy slide and a huge menu of food made by the PTFA themselves, it truly was an event for all ages!
Roger Higton, chairman of Dolphinholme School PTFA, would like to thank everyone involved with making the day such a success, “this year was better than ever. It’s great to see the community coming together for such a great cause!”, he said.
LiveWyre will be back in 2018 with more magical music and fun for families – stay tuned to find out more!
