With summer winding down into autumn, it’s the perfect opportunity to delve into one of our particularly cosy bedrooms: Harris End (a shooter’s favourite!)
The room is named after Harris End Fell; the perfect place for a brisk walk and picnic before the weather turns. Starting at Scorton Picnic Site (just ten minutes from The Fleece Inn, and well signposted), it’s a 300m ascent and makes for an enjoyable 9 mile hike.
It’s the perfect route for cyclists to enjoy, as the fell has a relatively smooth road. Rumour has it the fell was once used as part of an old training route by British cycling royalty, Sir Bradley Wiggins, so for those aspiring Olympians it’s definitely worth a visit!
Once you’ve had enough of the great outdoors and you’re ready to settle down for a cosy evening, stop by the bar for a hearty warm steak and ale pie and a pint of Black Sheep before resting your head in Harris End.
With original beams (watch your head!), Egyptian Cotton sheets, a flat-screen television and luxurious bathroom, it really is the perfect place to relax after a long day of training for a big race!
